Industrial Market Improved In The First Quarter – The North I-680 & Highway 4 industrial market picked up in the first quarter and market indicators project growth in 2012. The market absorbed 109,244 square feet and has witnessed three consecutive quarters of decreasing total vacancy. Vacancy fell 0.8 percentage points to 13.1 percent, a five quarter low. Total asking rents remained relatively flat at $0.61 per square foot (PSF). Pittsburg led the market in net absorption registering 72,178 square feet. Concord and Antioch also saw gains in net absorption, netting 19,020 and 8,425 square feet respectively. Activity was concentrated in the light industrial and warehouse submarkets while R&D was the only product type to register negative absorption.
