Industrial Market Improves in North I-680 Corridor – The North I-680 industrial market improved in the third quarter of 2012. There were several notable lease transactions for the quarter as tenants took on new space. The market registered 123,589 square feet of net absorption that coincided with a 0.7 percent drop in vacancy. This is the first time vacancy has dipped below 13 percent in eight quarters. Total asking rents stood at $0.58 per square foot (PSF) as the majority of absorption consisted of three warehouse leases in Antioch and Concord. Concord continued to lead the market in net absorption posting 125,282 square feet, followed by Antioch with 40,486 square feet. Brentwood and Pittsburg had the highest instances of negative net absorption in the region.
